Open Source 2.2.0 brings numerous functional fixes and enhancements to your Magento store

Enhancements in platform security and developer experience: Code execution attacks are common against online stores, however, with this release Magento has removed unserialize calls which help overhaul your site’s protection. Performance gains: Your customers can now shop and browse on your store with no visible impact while indexers are running in the background. This essentially improves their overall experience, but improvements in cart also brings significant enhances in performance. Pipeline Deployment: This release brings a new deployment process that minimizes the system downtime in case of site updates. Upgraded technology stack: Support for PHP 5.6 and Varnish 3 has been dropped. Magento Open Source 2.2.0 now supports PHP 7.1, MySQL 5.7 and Varnish 5.
