Magento news weekly 16

Greetings Magenticians!

We’re already almost halfway through 2016, can you believe it? Time is flying by! But, we’re here with the weekly roundup to keep you updated on the fast-moving Magento world. Dive in and see what’s been making the news this week.

We kick off by introducing a composition by the Firebear team, AheadWorks Gift Card for Magento 2 and 1. Gift cards for online stores is a good strategy to improve sales. People can use these to let their loved ones shop from your store. Create physical and virtual gift cards for your store using the AheadWorks Gift Card module. These gift cards can be created by your customers, with highly customizable features to decide the design, value, and messages for the recipient. Furthermore, you can easily track the gift cards created, right from the Magento admin panel. Check it out!

Whether Magento store owners like it or not, online shoppers have low attention spans and a little patience. If they can’t quickly find what they’re looking for in your store, they’re likely to move onto some competitor’s online shop. Yakov Borshch introduces a series of online search tools. The first edition of the series is Sphinx – the Beginner’s Guide. Sphinx is an open source, fast, full-text search tool. Borshch tells us what the tool is, how it works, how to install and finally, how to configure it on your Magento website.

Magento has recently come up with its marketplace, named Connect. This is great news indeed. David Jones explores the positive development with his piece, Magento Marketplace Opens To Promote Extensions, Themes, And Tools. He discusses the details of the store, along with the shortcomings which should be addressed.

Wajid Hussain offers us a short but useful tutorial on How To Deploy Static View Files In Magento 2 Using CLI. You can learn how to write static files for production mode of Magento 2. Continuing with the technical theme, Wajid also wrote How to Conduct Functional Web API testing in Magento 2. This composition is about Web API functional testing, allowing you to scrutinize your  Magento 2 framework and reuses of classes.

Ramp up the security of your Magento 2 store by enabling captcha and changing the encryption key. It makes sense to take these tried and tested security measures on your online store. Fayyaz Khattak explains how to Improve Magento 2 Security by Enabling Captcha & Changing Encryption Key.

The front-end developer at Bitbull, Irene Iaccio Talks About Magento, Magento Community & Development with Fayyaz Khattak in this interview. She shares the challenges which she faced head-on and has some good advice for front-end developers and students.

Now, here are some awesome (but generic) superhero Magento 2 Wallpapers by Igor Polishchuk. As he says, “We created these superhero wallpaper series to show the great power of Magento’s new product and outstanding talents and skills of the people, who work daily with Magento 2 and globally improve e-commerce.”

That’s about it for this week! I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Until next time, take care! :)
